What you can do here

Count and analyze text

The Word Counter gives live word count, character count, sentence count, reading time, speaking time, and a readability score as you type. The Character Counter specializes in tight character limits like social media posts and meta descriptions. The Word Frequency Counter returns a ranked list of the most-used words in any document.

Format and convert

The Case Converter has one-click buttons for uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, and CONSTANT_CASE. The Text Repeater multiplies any string by any number, with an optional separator between repetitions.

Generate and plan

The Lorem Ipsum Generator produces placeholder text in any quantity: words, sentences, or paragraphs, in classic Latin or modern variants. The Meta Tag Generator writes SEO meta titles, meta descriptions, and Open Graph tags for any page. The Words to Pages Converter answers “how many pages is 2000 words” with results that account for font, size, line spacing, and margins.

Word games and Scrabble

The Word Unscrambler finds every valid word that can be made from a set of letters. The full word list covers 42,000+ seven-letter words, with subpages for every word length from 2 to 15 letters, and filtered lists for words starting with, ending with, or containing every letter of the alphabet. The most comprehensive word finder on the web.

How the dictionaries work

The Word Unscrambler uses the union of the TWL Scrabble word list, SOWPODS (international Scrabble), and the Zynga Words With Friends dictionary, filtered to common English. That union is why some words work here that do not work in every game; check the per-game word validator on each tool for game-specific checks.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Word Counter work offline?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser. Once the page has loaded, you can disconnect and keep counting.

Why do I see different word counts between tools?

Different tools count hyphenated compounds and contractions differently. Our Word Counter follows the convention used by most style guides: contractions count as one word, hyphenated compounds count as one word.
